Detaining Without Charge, AKA Kidnapping

It is difficult to distinguish between ordinary kidnapping and state sponsored detainment in the current environment. People are seized in the middle of night or the middle of the street, bags put over their heads, held indefinitely in undisclosed locations, treated very badly and have no idea when they will be freed or even have the opportunity to know why they were taken. When one of "ours" is taken, it is an outrage and an act of barbarity. We routinely take hundreds and apparently feel completely justified in doing it...in a country environment, we must bear in mind, where we are the occupiers. Such amazing hubris must contribute an incalculable amount to the rage that continues to build against us and will make resistance in Iraq an unending phenomenon.
