The recent explosion of "interest representation" in Washington, concurrent with this administration, is consistent with the philosophy that government should be available to the influence of the money and power of special interests, rather than the way in which the peoples' interests are represented in the voting booth.

And what was the growth from 1995 to 2000?

To suggest, as your post seems to do, that this rate of growth is attributable to this administration is laughable. Of course, the sign as written is more fair as it questions the state of Washington in general.
