What Was the Immigration Policy When the Mayflower Arrived?

It is really disturbing to listen to the rhetoric about immigration in this country when it seems to characterize those from other countries as somehow “less than” people from the United States. Other than American Indians, we are all immigrants. Let’s not forget that

I mostly agree with the tone of your sign, but I have to admit that one of my first thoughts when reading it was "And how did that work out for the Native Americans?"

It was refreshing to see you address issues other than the war on Iraq, especially because I agree with your stance on this issue. There have been several political cartoons that have done a very nice job summing up our new stringent immigration policy, such as building a barbed wire fence around the country. What message does that send to those who are not "inside." I hate to think of such blatant US/THEM policies becoming the norm. (Funny how "US" could be seen as "U.S." ...)
